5 YEARS OLD!
5!?!?! How can it be. On the morning of Drew's birthday I asked Kevin if he remembered where we were 5 years ago at the same time. His response "checking into the hospital to have a baby?" How quickly we forget the hard times and scary moments and turn life into our own little fairy tale. God helps us remember the past in a way that allows us to rejoice in the joys and leave the stress behind. 5 amazing years with this special little boy of ours. I was his biggest fan until the day he became a big brother! Owen thinks Drew hung the moon and would follow him anywhere. It is a parent's true joy to see their children love each other. Drew had another wonderful birthday. A fabulous "ball" party with his friend James Pacelli who is 2 days older. We invited all the kids in the Galloway preschool classes and had what some called a "birthday festival." It was a blast. Kevin built a soccer field and football field. Complete with goal nets, goal posts and even striped the fields with lines and painted their names in the end zones. When James' mom and I discussed the party we talked about collecting toys for children's hospital in lieu of gifts. I am always so surprised that the parents balk at this more than the kids. I had one parent tell me it was cruel not to let my kids have birthday presents. Seriously!?!?! Drew got gifts for his birthday he just didn't need 75 presents! James and Drew thought it was a great idea and enjoyed opening the gifts to see what the "kids at the hospital" were going to get. Deal was once they were all opened they each got to pick one to keep. If they picked the same one that must mean it was an extra good gift and had to go to the children at the hospital. Worked out great! They got a truckload full of great gifts to donate. Can't wait to make the delivery.
