We were lucky enough to find some time off in our schedule to make the trip to South Georgia for Easter. Kevin's sister and her family (minus Kaitlin who chose a week in Greece over South Georgia) were able to make the trip as it coincided with their spring break. With the boys being out of school it worked out great. Unfortunately the weather didn't exactly cooperate for a couple of the days, but we had a good time any way. Lots of egg hunting. fishing, hide-and-seek and of course LOTS of good food. Both boys did great on the ride over and back. Thank goodness for DVD players - we don't do much TV at home, but int he car for 10 hours it is essential. Drew watched Frozen for the first time and really loved it. Owen enjoyed the singing!
Before we left for the weekend the boys enjoyed their school egg hunt!
Easter at Nana and Grandaddy's
We were so blessed to be able to attend Easter Sunday worship at New Bethel Baptist Church where Kevin grew up. His sister, Julie, still attends with her family. It was wonderful to be with our children in the place that fostered my husband's relationship with God. (Although Owen and I spent much of the service in the nursery.) What an amazing way to celebrate God's resurrection with family! Drew has spent the last several weeks telling us the Easter story. His teachers have done a wonderful job helping him understand Jesus' death and resurrection. He would tell anyone who would listen the story of Jesus' last week including prayer in the Garden, the last supper, Pontious Pilate giving Mary the body and then the angels and stone rolling away. As my friend Kimsey McCormick says "the tears just roll when you hear your child talk about it."
Following church we had lunch and enjoyed a cold Easter egg hunt at the Autrey's. The hunt was on when the boys found out Aunt Tiffany had stuffed a few eggs with money!
| It may be wet and cold, but there is a money egg and we are ready! |
Uncle Ed may have helped a little! Drew was ecstatic to find one of the money eggs!
More fun from the week...
| Not sure who is having more fun with the bubbles, Grandaddy or Owen! |
And a few other things to report...
Kevin's annual turkey hunt meant it was a good time to get of Owen's paci. I have learned Kevin likes peaceful nights at our house and will give in on things like this. So I try to work them in when he won't be there. I have no issue with the screaming that comes with the battle of the wills! Luckily there was no fight. Owen looked for his paci for about 20 mins in the bed and hasn't thought about it again. One more thing coming to an end at the Gay House....never again will be looking for pacis in the middle of the night!
Traditional Easter bunny cinnamon rolls were on Palm Sunday this year.
