The Gay Family Blog: Fall Is In the Air

A trip to the pumpkin patch, the fair, a quick visit from family and then Halloween on Sheffield Drive! Again, this is my MOST favorite time of the year.

The fair...we have a love hate relationship. Love the food, HATE the rides and the filth! My kids actually think you have to get a shot before you go. Pretty convenient "fair shots" aka flu shots come out a few weeks before the fair comes to town. I am pretty sure they should get tetanus shots too....that place is just icky! I love watching them ride the little kid rides. I hate (the tort lawyer in me) the big rides and the petting zoo. Another rant for another day. Thank goodness we had another year under 48 inches tall!

The boys were surprised a few weeks ago on Friday night when we told them after dinner we needed to pick something up at the airport. Aunt Tiff and Austin made the trip from North Carolina and the boys had a blast. You can see from the pics at ToysRUs why they were excited. When your aunt hula-oops with you in the store it is all good.

You want to see people smile - come see a children's choir sing. This was their first time the boys sang together in church and it was perfect. Our children's choir program has grown to so many kids it covered the steps of the sanctuary alter. So wonderful to see the sweet friendships blossom.

Happy, Happy Halloween from a knight in shining armor and his dragon. They picked these themselves with no direction from me. Had I wanted them to do complimentary costumes they would have never agreed. Owen was pretty disappointed with his. He kept saying "my costume not working." After about 10 minutes of crying he finally was able to explain the fire wasn't coming out of his mouth. Poor guy thought he was getting a flame thrower with his costume. No luck buddy. Maybe next year. Halloween was moved up to Friday to beat the rain and ended up being the same night as JA Homecoming. We had a house full of friends and kids running everywhere. At one point I found myself just looking around and realizing THIS is why we bought this house. So much fun!
