This is the last set of pictures from our Thanksgiving trip to Georgia. One of the highlights of our trip each year is the lighting of the Christmas lights on the square in downtown Moultrie. Kevin grew up outside Moultrie and graduated from high school there. It is wonderful small southern town with a beautiful downtown square with shops and a stunning white courthouse. Each year on Thanksgiving evening the entire town comes out to celebrate the start of Christmas and turn on the lights. It is magnificent. Kevin took me the first year I spent Thanksgiving with him and we have gone every year since. It is a great tradition. I can't take credit for the above pic. Our friends Blair and Felecia Lobrano and their son Reilly spent Thanksgiving with us in 2007 and Felecia took this beautiful picture. It was better than any of mine this year!!!
In years past we always gave Kevin’s sister a hard time because she would start reminding us Thanksgiving morning that we had to leave the house by 4:30 to make it in time to see Santa. Santa loads up his sleigh, which is pulled by REAL reindeer, in the bank parking lot and if you get there in time you can get your picture made with him and avoid the 2 hour wait once he makes it to the square. The kids always love it and he is a really good Santa. Roles were reversed this year and we were the ones making sure we got there in time to see Santa. We couldn’t wait for Drew to meet Santa for the first time. Not that he would remember, but I would! It didn’t go as planned though, 5 minutes from Moultrie and I realized I had forgotten his bottle. It was time to eat so there was no getting around it. We turned around and headed the 15 minutes back to the house to get the bottle disappointed we wouldn’t see Santa in time. Luckily Aunt Julie and the others were in a separate car and by the time we arrived, well after 5:00, Santa was still there. I didn’t ask any questions, but he looked a little scared. I think Aunt Julie and Aunt Wanda may have been holding his hostage!!! Drew got to meet Santa and it was wonderful.

After seeing Santa we headed to the square to see the lights turned on. Drew was in awe. We always enjoy seeing lots of Kevin’s old friends, some of whom we see at the same place every year as we walk the square. We were especially glad to see the Vickers. Kevin and Chrystal grew up together and we were excited to introduce Drew. (When we got back to the car I found text messages waiting from Chrystal telling me where they were on the square so we wouldn’t miss them!!) It is always so much fun, but this year was wonderful. If you are ever in South Georgia between Christmas and New Years’ stop by Moultrie and see the lights. It is worth the trip!
